I have her last album but don't listen to it much. The short cound clips makes me think I may like this one a bit more. And yes I know it's mindless pop/rock fluff but sometimes I like to switch off and just tap my foot so gimme a break
I had pre-ordered it on iTunes and I have to say I'm liking it so far, although I haven't had a chanced to listen to it much just yet. It's a lot more consistent than her debut, but there's nothing that (to me, yet) sticks out as much as some of the singles she had on the last album. You know a really good KT Tunstall album that you might like is Acoustic Extravaganza. It's an obviously stripped down, more folk-oriented effort, but it's really quite good.

Some people find it "safer" than her previous - I am really enjoying it - a definite recommendation WR...

Nothing wrong with mindlessness if that's what you're into, so why so defensive?
I'd agree with BassheadJazz that it's more "consistent" than the previous one; the production amps up the pop-siness, kinda goes for the jugular. That said, the song structures (and lyrics) aren't particularly unique, so it feels kinda like, "Sure, okay, whatever."

I'll probably swing by BB and pick it up. Anytime trendy pop/rock type stuff comes up here it seems there are a few that always come in with something snotty to say so I was hoping the preface would keep it at a minimum
I first saw her on a live performance on KCRW, and seeing her loop live was very impressive. She had an energy and a sense of fun in her performance that I really enjoyed. Having said that, I thought all of that was lost in the studio, and Eye to the Telescope was one of the more disappointing albums I've ever picked up. Not sure I can go into a follow-up with an open mind.

Her live performances blow her studio stuff out of the water, there's no question about that. She's one of the few artists that would really benefit from a live cd/dvd release. I don't know if she'll ever get to the point where she can recreate the same sound that she has live, although many acts have failed to do this and have enjoyed quite successful careers.

I don't think her music is mindless at all. It just seems like it because she had a tremendous commercial success on the previous album. I do agree though that the new album is more radio friendly but I really think she's one hell of a talented singer song writer.
