I'd like to know if it's any good and what it resembles of their previous albums? I avoided their last album... just didn't like it but I do have Make Yourself and Morning View both of which I really like.

totally have the same predicament. S.C.I.E.N.C.E. didn't appeal to me either.

i have it, its not bad, the only thing that I found strange is that the hit song anna molly seems sort of randomly placed in the album, in my opinion it doesn't really go with the feel of the rest of the cd... i don't have any of the old incubus to compare it to really though but all in all.. its pretty decent (i really like the song love hurts though)

on another note though, the new album from brand new is really really good

Yh, the change after Dirks department has been obvious and they aren't quite the same band they used to be. On the other hand, they still are a great band. The thing that I like about them is that everytime I buy their new record I'm puzzled for a while. Thinkin what is this?!

But after few days, it starts to grow on you and that has happened to me on every CD since SCIENCE.

With Light Grenades, I'm still a bit in that puzzled phase, but I can already find myself humming rogues and anna molly from time to time. The general feel has just moved more to sentimental ballads that isn't quite what I was expecting. Just give it some time.

One thing that bugs me too is the song order. There doesn't seem to be any trend on how the record advances. It's just a mixture of different kinds of songs thrown in together. Also couple songs feel more like interludes than genuine songs. So I can't give it all five stars yet

agree with you guys on this. ACLOTM took a long time to grow on me, and it may be the same for light grenades, maybe not. Theres definatly a good couple of tracks on there, but the album feels less cohesive than any other incubus album(which maybe isnt saying too much)

ben kenney is a really good bassist, but dirk lance fit with the incubus i know and love more. but i cant blame the band for changing, this is their 6th lp and we cant expect them to ever put out another science again

Just gotta inform you guys that now I'm starting to get past that puzzled phase

There are so many things on this record that I like. Even those tricky bass thingys that Ben does, don't bother me that much anymore. I feel that Ben is more involved in melodies whereas Dirk was defo a rythm instrument player. (Which bass is, I suppose

)

Also I've found some reasoning behind the track list. I feel that the album is kinda split into two parts. The earth to bellas are kind of ends of parts 1 and 2. The Light Grenades is an interlude to point out that, hey the first part is over and now we're moving to the 2nd. Kinda of reminds me of some theaters where someone comes to inform the audience that there is a brake.

The bad thing is that for this reason I'm having hard time listening to those three songs as genuine songs. They just feel more like filling that is there just to highlight the album structure.

Anyway, this isn't THE Incubus record of all time but I really like it and am gonna listen to alot in the weeks to come.
