Nope since DX1000 is here, why would bother for old days headphone that has similar tech-wise spec (Well, R10 might sound better but not good enough for over 6 times price).

Because many consider it to be the King of Dynamics, unlike the DX1000, and tech specs mean very little.

I have been away from Head-Fi for a year or more. Question:.. are the R 10s going for this much? $5,900.

When I left a year ago I thought they were going for around $4,500.

Yep, prices have gone up on the R10.

I would have considered it, but just dropped a bit of cash on another amp last week.

I think the seller pulled a nikongod on them, and forgot about it.

X2 of what Subtle said. It's a shame that you make a blanket statement on something that you probably never heard in a really good setup. I've owned the DX1000 for a good period twice and I had the R10s at the same time. The R10s are by far in another league. System I was listening to both cans with was:

Audio Reserach CD-7 -> Singlepower Dragon amp (that amp cost over $5500 alone) and B22.

If you believe in just tech specs to make your judgment on cans without really listening to them you are missing out on a lot.

Yup they went up. One just sold here for around $6300 and one sold on Ebay a little over a month ago at $6500.

i have considered an R10 purchase, but i only listen to balanced headphones and am not sure that i could get myself to balance a pair. plus i have a lot of headphones and have been considering a new source - cdsa se or cary 306 - and think that maybe the money would be better spent there.

i bet these things are sold within 10 days.

Should k1000 be more considered then since it sounds better than R10 in very very synergized manner?
