I have a theory that I'd like to confirm with someone familiar with Li-ion battery technology. I've had a # of DAPs, all rechargable, who have exhibited the same quick to drop to 1/2 batt. mark, but hang on to the last half charge for a long, long time. I think that the reason battery meters on these DAPs that use rechargable Li-ion's drain to half quickly is due to the voltage drop from 4.25V to 4V and the cell's ability to provide long duration current quantities @ about 4V. Also, I believe that the cell(s) 'desire' to get to 4V to reach it's/their 'steady state comfort level'. Can someone pass on any more information in this respect?

Thanks in advance.

There's an online book Batteries in a Portable World http://www.buchmann.ca/toc.asp
The Lithium Ion Battery is on http://www.buchmann.ca/chap2-page6.asp
Here's the discharge curve, that seems to confirmwhat you said
