Anyone know how to recover lost files?

I have deleted some files by accident and now I need to recover them. I've used File Recovery Pro 3.0 and spent 5 hours to recover a bunch already. Out of 500 jpegs I recovered 100 were corrupted. It shows the proper file size (seems like proper) but no image is contained in the file.

I am using NTFS on Windows XP. Any ideas? I need a more powerful recovery software or an image repair software. I tried a few repair software such as Pix Recovery but no luck so far.

You've probably already overwritten them by installing a bunch of software and copying files and stuff. If you had unplugged your computer (without shutting it down) after you'd deleted the files you probably could've gotten them all back (by mounting the drive read-only on another computer, or under Linux, or by taking it to a data recovery service). If there's anyone that can get those files back now it would be a professional data recovery service, and only if you stop using the drive immediately (and those services can get expensive, like $1000+ (no, that's no typo)).
