Anyone here only use full sized headphones, avoiding IEM? Why?

I use full sized headphones and avoid IEM because I have terrible ear wax and it is nasty when a IEM gets dirty because of it. Anyone else having similar issue? Or any other reasons? Why?

It's speakers or headphones only. I like to hear if something is going on, and I don't like the sensation of them in there.

I only use IEMs for travel. I tried using them daily and it's too restricting not to hear the phone, notifications, or a knock at the door. If they don't stay clean, sound quality suffers really badly.
