Didn't want to start a new thread, but I wanted to ask what kind of equipment I should look into? So far I've just been using Ableton on my laptop and I want to take the next step, but I don't know what my priority should be when looking at gear to buy.

Audio monitors/interface.
Perhaps some MIDI controllers. Both keyboard and general knobs-and-sliders for controlling the DAW.
I don't use them myself (yet?), but I'm thinking of buying them myself...

I don't mean to change the topic or anything... but how did you guys learn music theory? I have all these programs but I have no idea how to create pleasing sounds that are actually enjoyable, melodies, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
