Quick question:

Anyone ever heard the Sony 7506/V6 through a high end source like
Benchmark 1, Apogee mini-dac , Lavry DA10 . ...ETC....

How does it sound??

It seems like like all the bad reviews are from people using mediocre sources.

In a mastering studio,... people would have better sources than an X-fi Xtreme Music....!!

I have heard them through a wide range of sources - including unimpeachable items such as an Audioarts console, and the Benchmark DAC1. They have wonderful performance, and there is a reason why they are the dominant headphone for professional monitoring and mixing applications. It's not just because they are well-built - they have excellent sound quality, better than many high-end headphones that are popular among enthusiasts. Their low price causes many to dismiss them, their "commonness" causes others. I think they are among the best value of all headphones available.

I will agree with islewind as well. Out of the small collection of cans I own, I seem to enjoy the MDR-V6 the most. Mine are modified with the Beyerdynamic DT-250 pads for use at work. I can listen to them all day without discomfort.

I just introduced my dad into the world of higher quality headphones by buying him a pair of these. He says he hears things he's never heard before out of his music collection. I got a text message from him the other day... "these things sound badass! thanks!"
