I dunno. I'm really having problems with Gmail. I hate the "loading . . ." stage and tonight I couldn't attach a MS Word resume. I was really hoping it would be great, but so far it's striking me as kinda of lame, despite being in the beta stage.

Gmail is 10x better than Hotmail or Yahoo, IMO. And what's this complaining about the Loading bit? You had to load pages in Hotmail and Yahoo, too. This just uses Javascript and pre-loads a few things (notice how it can instantly move an email to the Trash if you're viewing it?) so it's much faster. When it does have to load a page, whoopty do. So does every other web-based mail system. And I might add, Gmail is a lot faster loading than Hotmail on dial-up, and a bit faster than Yahoo. Yahoo's pretty lean, but Gmail bests it.

BTW, I've never had any problems with file attachments. Perhaps it's Google's way of fighting back against M$?

No, since yahoo added a search function, I pretty much find Gmail's appeal defunct. Try attaching some files. I never had to sit through blank screen loading yahoo. I think gmail still has to go through a lot of development.

I already have an account and so far I am only using it for forums and not for regular e-mail, but so far I like it, albeit I don't think it's something so out of this world. Of course, the 1G capacity is something to look forward to use.

I'm still on dial-up. (31.2KBPS dial-up, at that) Every little speed boost I can get is much needed and loved. Gmail is faster than anything else (than perhaps dodgeit, but that doesn't really count), period.

And plus, I love their archiving ability. No more mucking about with folders. Keep it all in one location, and search. Reminds me a bit of the proposed WinFS in Longhorn. Or rather, what I'd use it for, with my Crap Dump folder... way too much stuff in there. Too hard to find anything anymore. The ability to instantly search that folder with the speed of Gmail would be nice indeed. Without Fast Indexing turned on, that is.

I was excited about Gmail but shifted back to yahoo. Something bugs me about it. And I know they ******* up my password. I couldn't sign on the other day and had to go through the process of changing my password (forgot to mention this one). I have a couple standard passwords (ran them all), so I wasn't wrong. Something went buggy with their system. Yeah, the 1 gig was exciting, but that faded somewhat when yahoo upped their to 100meg. That seems to be holding water very nicely for me.

Well, dude, whatever floats your boat, but I'm sticking with Gmail. Yahoo is definitely adequate for many people; I know several. Do I need 1GB of storage? No, but it's nice to know I have it.

As for the password, never experienced anything like that. Coulda been a system hiccup. If they're hosting Gmail like they do Google (and I strongly suspect they are), it's spread across hundreds, if not thousands of computers. Very possible something could get lost in this Beta stage. Give it time. Try it again in a few months.

I`ve been using GMail for a few days and i like it, it`s nice, plain, and simple.

It loads fast ( i`m on cable )

I haven`t attached a file and sent it, i should try that.

I like certain things about GMail, like the way it groups replies to messages together. The loading time is minimal for me, and my attachments always work fine. I don't like the search feature replacing folder creation... I like folders for organization. Give me both, not one instead of the other. But if I can only have one, I'd rather have folders. I'll keep on using both GMail and Yahoo. Of course, they're both superior to Hotmail.

There are still people waiting for an invite? I've got a few of them available... anybody here need one?

I like Gmail... it's fast, and the archiving system works well. And the interface is very nice...Yahoo's, by comparison, feels clumsy.

I have Yahoo! Mail Plus, and you can't beat 2GB of capacity that I'll never use, WAP access, POP3 access, and an established, well-tested service. Gmail is just too feature-less for me and I don't like using webmail-only accounts since I like to have a desktop email client archive my email. Gmail is way overrated, it really isn't anything special.

Actually, I rather like Gmail. It's a lot more reliable than aol's web-accessible mailbox system (which seems to crash on me a lot) and I also much prefer it to hotmail; it's noticeably faster and more organized (using a wi-fi connection to broadband). And I've had no problem sending attachments.

Something about Gmail seems irky to me. I've never had a problem with yahoo mail, and now that it has 100 MB ( which I'm currently using 1% of ), I see no reason to switch.
