I was blown away by the sound of the WA6 SE at CanJam, and knowing that it made it's world debut at CanJam, I doubt anyone has one, but wanted to ask anyhow. Anyone have this amp, or order one? I felt it had excellent synergy with HD650s, but I was somewhat torn between this amp and the WA2... which was pure bliss. I'm really confused in which one suits my needs more and wished I was able to spend more time with both of them. Jack, his brother and father were very personable and very welcoming, allowing me to sit for *long* periods of time listening to both amps. I will soon have one of them... but which one? Choices, choices...

At the price and what I know of the sound since I modified my Woo 6 to the Woo 6 Modified :^) and knowing what I know about the topology of the amp section (having build direct coupled preamps) and power supply section and the pseudo dual power supply of the SE I would get it in a heart beat.

I, too, was pretty much blown away by the WA6 Special Edition. I have been in touch with Jack Wu asking him to forward the specs on the SE so I could do a comparison with the WA2. Right now, the only advantage to the 2 is the four inputs. I will likely put my name in for a WA6 SE within the week. A lot of dough for this unit, but this is an amp for a lifetime, for me.

Anyone know what the price is and how it differs from the normal WA6? It's not on his website...

i asked jack about this last week, as i just put money down for a wa2.this was his response:

WA2 - bigger presentation stage, smoother, warmer, more depth, and also more choices for tube rolling.
WA6SE - higher resolution, better clarity, greater dynamic, and more neutral.

Jack was kind enough to let me take the WA6 SE for a test drive for the next week or so. I spent a good 4 hours listening to it with my 650s and enjoyed every minute. I loved the WA2 when I heard it in San Jose last year. I didn't get a chance to compare the two at CanJam. I'm leaning towards putting a deposit on the WA6 SE. I want to compare it to the headphone out of my Cary SLI-80 before making a decision. I'm also torn as I loved the GES and the HE 1.2.

Jack and his family are great people. After meeting them, you just want to give them your business. That and the fact their gear sounds great and their customer service is second to none.

It has two different inputs so there is no switch, which all the better.

Of course. I looked at the other thread and if I had actually taken a close look at the picture, I may have come to that conclusion on my own.

Thanks Jam.

So true Tyrion. You know, after attending CanJam and the San Jose meet, I had the chance to talk with the actual people behind the products, making the whole experience all the more special. Listening to the products now has a whole different meaning after speaking with the makers about what they were sonically after when they made these. As a bonus, you realize that these people are really, really nice and are just as enjoyable and personable as the products they stand behind. Just awesome.

You are right, it is nice to meet the people behind the product. Jack and his family are some of the nicest people I've met and Jack will work with you to customize your product and stand behind it 100%. If only it was balanced.......

Since Jack will customize the amps for you, why don't you just asking him to put balanced outputs on it?
