Does anybody know if apple has any plans to release a new line of iPods any time soon? I have a chance to get a great deal on a 4GB nano, but last time, when I got my mini, it was discontinued 2 days after I got it and replaced with the nano. It was most displeasing. I want to know if apple has plans for a new line of Ipods any time soon, so I can get an idea of weather I should jump on this deal or not. Thanks.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 60gig 5th gen, but after reading about the possibility of an 80 or 100gig full video ipod I'm going to wait a few weeks. The 80gig is what I've been waiting for, but if a 100 is available, I'll get that!

Well if you have my luck, you will wait a few weeks, nothing will come out, so you get the 60gig. Then the next day the 5th gen Ipods are all discontinued and replaced with the 6th gen ipods, that have 80 and 100gb models, and they will have the ability to stream live TV, radio, anything, and they will be cheaper than the 60gig was

All I can say is, if you find something you like, get it.
I have 2 digital cameras (2.1 mp bought in 1999, 3.2 mp bought in 2003) and have been waiting to get the "perfect" 8.0 mp + but, guess what? A better, smaller and chaper model comes out every 6 months.

It is a "when" and not "if" Apple will come out with a better, larger capacity and smaller if not cheaper iPod sooner or later. You can wait and wait and wait, or find one you like for a good price, get it and settle.

With the way things are going, any new technology will be old technology in less than a year...

By the way, I was in Circuit City today and they told me "some" company is coming out with a portable GPS/ MP 3 player/ Video player with radio and tons of other features this summer for under $500. And also Pioneer and Samsung are coming out with XM radio / MP3 players with 50+ hours of memory in 3 months. God knows what will be on shelves this X-mas...

Agreed, but I wont wait long. I would much rather have an 80 or 100gig player than a 60gig at this point. I have a 40gig ipod and it's full, I would like to double my storage space at minimum. I'll wait until April 15th, then I'll buy something.

The 60gig has a 20 hour battery life, I don't see the 80gig being much different.
