Noob here.
Looking to make a budget upgrade on my tiny e10k to something with a bit more juice to accomodate the next headphone purchase (have a pair of X2s but looking to something like the beyer dt770s or fostex t50rps).
The Fiio K5 looks to me like a good upgrade as its cheap and has gain switiching and pre outs, and I can keep my e10k to serve as just a dac for now. I am not familliar with the fine details of amplification or how everything translates into better sound, but can appreciate that just going by listed specs and assuming that bigger numbers mean better noises isn't the best way to go (right?) and having to run an amp at full tilt to power 'phones isnt so great either.
So does anyone have any thopughts on the Fiio K5? Is it worth going for or should I be saving my pennies for something better?
