Any source other than AKG for AKG parts?

With wait times from AKG themselves apparently being measured in months these days, is there anywhere else to get parts for AKG headphones?

Specifically, I need a set of elastics and some foam and pads for my newly acquired K240 Sextetts.

Also, if anybody can tell me where to get a set of velour Beyer pads that would fit these cans, that would also be helpful.

iirc they are an AKG velour, they're the same size as the K240 pads but not stock on K240.

You're not going to like what they do to the sound. Trust me, if you had a decent pair of stock pads to compare to, you would agree.

AKG is likely to be able to ship a single pair of K240 pads fairly quickly.

I got a pair of stock vinyl pads quickly, it's just fitz's order for 20 of them that's taking forever.

I could use another pair of pads and another K240DF ring, but i'm not enthusiastic about placing another order with frank while i have two backordered invoices waiting to ship.

These aren't actually in too bad of shape. They hold the grills away from my ears nicely and they're still reasonably springy. I could see brand new ones being slightly springier, but not by much, given the volume limits of the covering. My biggest beef with them, and my interest in velours, is that the pleather is really annoying and sticks to my head.

What effect do the velours, stock or off-brand, have on the sound?

If all else fails, I guess I'll improvise something, maybe by carefully glueing some thin velour onto the current pads.

No, that will still change the sound. The whole point is for them to seal. If not, bass response takes a hit and they become fatiguing. Yes they can be sweaty.

EDIT:
Using non stock pads REALLY changes the sound. I do not recommend it.

Yeah I was wondering that. Just because they sound good on K340's doesn't mean they'll sound good on the K240. I've learned that pads can make a very big difference possitively and negatively.
I also intend to try the new stock pads on my K340 and see if I want to order another pair.
