I've got a simple aluminum stand that the laptop sits on. The aluminum conducts heat away and the stand is raised up slightly so air can go underneath. It works great and it fits right over the top of my macbook in its case- it doesn't take up any extra room.

See ya

Is this self made, or a commercial product? Would like to know more information. The few laptop coolers I've tried....tend to help but usually because of various locations of fans/rubber feet of either the cooler/my laptop not working out, the efficiency of the coolers have been held back. Was considering going with a stand type.

I underclock and undervolt my laptop so that the fan doesn't run, might be an option.
