I am wondering if there are any portable digital headphone amplifiers, digital in the sense that the amplification topology is digital, like a tripath. I thought that the AE-1 and the Ray Samuels Hornet might be digital amps because of their longevity with a single battery charge. It would make sense to build one, given a digital amps power consumption advantages, and the warm reception digital amps have received in the high end audio world, even the inexpensive Sonic Impact has had some very nice things written about it.
In the same vein, has anyone converted a sonic impact to a portable headphone amp with a good result? I know that you can add resistance to the output and then headphones should work, I'm curious if anyone has tried it though...
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.
