After looking at some options, I think an Yggy + GS-X Mk II combo would be perfect. I would use my HD800, HD6XX, TH900, ZMF Ori with this stack. I'm not worried about frequency response synergy since I PEQ my headphones.
Any comments, ideas, experience with such a stack? Would you substitute anything else for either component?
I cannot imagine the result would be anything but glorious. Haven't heard either one of those products but pairing what is likely the best R2R DAC with top flight SS amplification sounds like a no brainer. Go for it.
I would still go with the Yggy and will have the new analog output in just a bit. Not me but some say the new Analog out of the Yggy rivals the Dave . Will have to wait till I get it back to say for sure but the price difference of a Yggdrasil $2499 and a Dave @$ 9kor so will pic the Yggy every time that goes for a Hugo2 also. Don’t get me wrong love the Dave but it worth like 3x or more not going to pay it myself. Not going to say about the other Chords just have heard the Hugo and Hugo 2 against the Yggy and sorry liked the Yggy more and that is without the new Usb5 and Analog version 2. Some say the Analog 2 rivals the sound of the Dave but I will not as I don’t have it yet and people like what they like as I do and will probably never say it unless I have one next to it to judge. I only say what I have and hear.
TT could be the right product for you. Hugo is a portable not near tt desktop quality. Granted even at 1/3 Dave cost nothing has schitt value. Course folks who have heard both ygg and TT, seem to side with TT but ymmv and all that. I won’t be buying Dave, near end game as it is frankly.
So you have had a Yggdrasil then at the same time?. Would love to hear what you thought of both. I have heard many say one way or the other about them and also Halo Spring Level 3 Kitsune also.
If I were sticking with those dynamic and planar headphones, then I would also get a HeadAmp GS-X Mk2. As for DAC, I suppose you'll have to take a gamble either way since they are difficult to audition. My choice would be a Chord Hugo 2, but then again I have no Yggdrasil experience (the Hugo 2 just so easily beats every other DAC I've used including two R2R DACs that have been compared favorably to the Yggdrasil).
But what I'd REALLY do is sell all of those headphones, and instead of getting a GS-X Mk2 get a KGSSHV Carbon or KGSSHV (whichever you can afford) and a Stax SR-009.

The Yggdrasil isn't the only DAC in the world. Nothing wrong with putting forth an impressive alternative. I don't try to say which one he SHOULD get. Truth is, nobody can know that.

What does possession of an Yggdrasil have to do with you following me around on this forum and trying to start a conflict? You don't know what "Stalking" means? Hint: It has nothing to do with possession of a particular object.
