I am really interested in the rio pearl and was wondering if there is any news on it such as when it will be released or any features it will have. I think i've narrowed it down to this or the Ipod. -Rob

in the mean time, get a 60gb zen, or a 20gb zen, 'cause one can upgrade them. im getting a 60gb, but i will downgrade to 20 by putting the 60 in my lappy. werd!

Austonia at www.dapreview.com mentioned they were in real world testing right now. I'm figuring September before the public sees them in retail.

I also asked a question at MP3.com. I was fortunate enough to get an answer from someone who works for Rio in the UK, so it looks like it's a go for the Pearl no matter what financial situation they were in.

I'm giving this unit serious thought. I'm stuck with 1.1 USB on my laptop but have 10/100 ethernet which the pearl also uses. Saves me from the tedious task of uploading through 1.1 USB. If the music quality is up there with at least the ipod then I'm a candidate. I might wait for a few reviews before jumping in and buying it, but it looks small enough, so it could be a winner.
