you bet,
Sharp IM-MT880 first gen NetMD unit from sharp... has some flaws, but great sound, good live recordings, great remote. Wish the battery life was as good as current gen NON-hi-MD units....
long live MD ! (how much longer though, thats tough - Unless sharp or sony builds a good quality Hi-MD recorder with a decent battery life soon, I might pick up a Hardrive based player)
Still using MD, don't really have to money to move on. Using Panasonic SJ-MR220, one of the older MDLP only units no NetMD. Its got a sometimes annoying background hiss but I can live with it as its a portable only unit.
I use my MZ-S1 still. its the sports edition and a bit bulky but its very strong (I droped it on cement 4 times without it breaking) its also water resistant
I have a NH900 Hi-MD portable and MXD-D5C MDLP/5-CD changer deck. Mainly using the portable for recording these days, though I used to use it a lot for portable listening. Also still listen to a number of MD's via the deck in my living room. So much easier to slip in for music listening than a CD. And when people come over, they're always intrigued by the discs.
I love my MD's. I have a Sony R90 (great line out. I use it at work...), NE410, E33, NHF800, Sharp DS70 and ST880 and recently traded a DS30 for an Airhead. My DS70 is my everyday player, I wouldn't be without it.
And I have Sharp SG11 that I use to do CD to MD and a Sony JE330 deck.
And.... the aluminum case my DT880's came in is almost EXACTLY 3 MD's wide, so I keep my disks in there with the overflow starting to fill my HD650 box !
To my unsophisticated ears, I think the sound from my Sharp MD SR75 is better than the Sony G750 I have. I like to pick up a more recent Sharp because I really like the sound from it. They seem to get snapped up very fast when they come up for sale. I also think that on a good optical recording to SP or even LP2 the sound can be better sounding that from my Panasonic CT700 PCDP. I like to record live quite a bit so I love MD for that. I also think its a nice portable format, the units are just nicely pocket sized, and usually they actually feel good to use with nice mechanical buttons and controls. Its a proper minature machine. Whereas some of the MP3 players feel a bit too cheap. Its also nice that you can do a lot with MD with out using a computer.
I often see some old Sharp units for sale in various stores near where I live. Whats the best model to look out for? sIs it worth paying extra for one? How do the Sony Net MD and HiMD units compare sonically to the Sharps for those that have both units?
