We call that a Head-Fi "meet" around here (sounds more manly), and yes, there is a fairly active gang of thugs in California (some in the Bay area) who get together at least semi regularly. I'm sure they'll chime in as soon as they see this thread. Voltron recently hosted the epic "Mayberry on Acid" meet out in Merin. Good time had by all, and a ton of amazing gear/beer to listen to slug down.
we just had a meet in Marin check out the Mayberry on acid impressions thread. That said I am sure we will have another meet after the National meet probably in May or June. We meet at least 4 times a year and have 40 or so active members in the area. ASR set up the last few South Bay meets and he has moved to Colorado. I'll probably do something in May or June though in the East Bay.
JP#, Voltron and I had a 'micro' mini meet here in Marin a couple of weeks ago at my place to listen to a couple of things. It was fun even though we didn't get through everything. The point being, don't be afraid of a small get together as well. A couple of people for a couple of hours can be fun.. And if there are beverages involved... even better..
Sounds great guys. I'm in Richmond so I can get anywhere in the area, including Sacto, in under 2 hours. I have a friend in Concord who might be willing to host if the "gang of thugs" is waiting on after the National Meet
I'm really curious as to where my rig is at, and I can only tell that by experiencing others. So, bring on the beer, chips, dips and assorted gastric delights...oh yeah, and the cans and amps too
Haha, I was just looking at an apartment in San Jose and I saw the club house that can be rented by tenants for events. My first thought was "I want to host a head-fi meet here!" I need to get the job first
Well, I'm FROM the Bay Area, and would love to do a meet, but I live in Washington now, and I'm really regretting missing the Seattle meet this last weekend. Financial destitution genuinely sucks.
Haven't been to one of these since sleestack's sj meet but I would love to be involved in future ones. I remember nealpeart being instrumental in organizing the last one as well. So yeah, even if its a smaller meet I would love to bring some gear and have a listen to some other people's stuff.
