Its been a long time since my hd580 was working and I haven't heard my friends hd600 in a good setup but I never remembered the hd580s or the 600s to have this more electrostatic speed feel combined with warmth that the 595 has. I love these babies. I am wondering if I am alone or is the 595 better than the 580/600 to others around here too

I had the 595's once, and I liked listening to MUSIC on them, because the MUSIC I would listen to sounded more MUSICal than other headphones I tried. But, the MUSIC I would listen to on them didn't sound as good as when I listened to MUSIC on other headphones, so I sold them so I could buy more MUSIC.

I like HD595's because they are fun headphones actually. Well amped give holographic and intimate soundstage. They are not so refined and open-sounding as HD580 but HD595's are very honest in presentation, with no veil and a bit of fun (would you suspect Sennheiser for doing it?

). Very nice and rich midrange, a bit unprecise but pleasant bass. There is the Appreciation thread for them, so I will stop now...

It's all been said before, but one thing the HD595s sure have going for them is comfort! I went nuts in the last couple months & now have SR80s, HD580s, HD595s & now DT-880s. I need to sell 2 & keep 2 (one set for work, one set for home) and it sure won't be easy... All have their merits.

Picking headphones is kinda what it would be like trying to pick *one* of Charlie's Angels to keep.

For me, those are the most comfortable of the bunch. Also offer nice balance sound-wise w/o any mods (through my SOHAs anyway).

I may write an IMHO comparison of them to add to the pile of such reviews here, but need to spend far more time with each of them.

When I get the time I'm A/B-ing among them using iPod w/lineout + Y connector into the 2 identical-sounding SOHAs (256k AACs). Causes a small amount of hum due to tying the independent SOHA's grounds, but good for this purpose.

So, far, I agree about the DT880s, they're most likely keepers.
Also need to try the Grado SR80s w/ & w/o tape mod.

wow, lots of 595 love in the music section. They usually get dissed by the 580/600 crowds a little too much in the headphone section. hmm, my mistake in putting this post in the music section might have been a good one since the people here are most likely in music mode more than analytical equipment mode

I prefer the 580 over the 595's. It's all a matter of personal taste. Comments like this borders on fanboyism, and it is pretty ignorant:

Some people like the 580's some people like the 595's. The 595's, to my ears, just doesn't present the type of sound I am looking for. I tried so hard to like my 595's more than the 580's (for some odd reason I don't know), but in the end I just sold them off, since I kept changing back to my 580's. I also have the MS1's that do great and match perfectly as polar opposites of my 580's. IMO, the MS1's are much more fun than the 595's which is what people like about the 595's over the 580's. I like the laidback 580's for some of my music and the upfront with my MS-1's. The 595's just sit in the middle doing everything well, but nothing great. That' my shpiel. Well a small post tackling an issue with fanboyism, turned into a lost post. So long!

It was actually a pretty witty joke. He was making fun of the headphone thread in a music forum. Like those model numbers were bands.
