I just got EX1000 by SONY.
It seems the majority that owns EX1000 doesn't use Ipod Classic to pair them.
Ipod Classic really can't drive EX1000 very well, maybe only up to 50%?
But this pair sounds no good. Singers' voice is awkward in some points; sounds go very awkward when i play some musics with high frequency. 
I usually listen to POP music, and prefer balanced performance. Maybe my next player can fix the problem of awkward singers' voice. 
Any great portable digital players recommended?

I find my EX1000 sounds excellent with Clip+ or IPhone 4.

I don't have Iphone 4, but i am sure that Ipod Classic has better sound quality than Iphone 4.
Do you have Ipod Classic?
How about Clip+. Is that better than Ipod Classic?

Just a suggestion I own the EX600 model (one under EX1000) and they pair very well with the Colorfly C3, very natural sounding and clear. I can't say how well the pairing will be but it's certainly something to check out. Another solution would possibly be Cowon C2 which has a lot of power to supply your EX1000.

I won't hesitate to recommend ipod 5g. Just make sure rockbox it and play FLAC's. Yes I own this setup and that's the best thing I have done since I visited HF.

I have Ipod classic 5generation, maybe but not for sure.
Generations of Ipod Classic are pretty same, and their sound quality is very very same.
Anyway, someone says that the process of rockbox is very easy but still takes a lot of time.
I will think about it, and thank you for your great idea.

I know colorfly c3, but it's way too expensive. I will think about it. 
Comments to C4 seem better than C3, and also more expensive.
I won't think about cowon c2, which i don't like its design.
