Just wonderin'. I draw all the time. I've also done a couple of comic books.

If there are enough of us, we should maybe do an art jam sometime here in the members' lounge. Like maybe illustrated song lyrics or something.

Hope to hear from some folks.

Catachresis put out his own indie comic book too - ah, found the link!

And we have a good grouping of artists here, popping in and out but nothing like one big thread hangout - which we should have.

Oh, and Jeff Wong is a pro illustrator, he did some awesome work for quite a few Sports Illustrated covers for example. But when he comes to meets he just whips out his trusty camera, hehe.

Failed art student right here. Dipped my hands in everything from photography, drawing and painting, graphic design and digital work... even some acoustic sculpture experiments. Used to sell quarter comix and actually did quite well for myself at the Chicago Comicon (Wizard World) back in '96.

I am completely behind a Head-Fi art-jam (used to get together with friends weekly for jams) and would love to contribute.

wow, cool guys! I didn't expect folks I see so often to pop up here.

Edwood. I love to pretend I'm an industrial designer. I have a few books, spent a bit of time drawing coffee cups and bakelite radios the past couple of weeks. I like designing believable and interesting things for comics, but that's about as far as I go. I can't imagine someone handing me a degree for what you do.

Glendale: Sounds like a plan. Basically I'm a failed art school student as well. Doing international studies now. But yeah, art programs are a buncha phooey I think. At least the fine arts program here. Buncha snobs. I'm down for some art jamming sometime. We'll have to wait and see if more folks get interested.

You guys have any links :p?

(oh yeah, thanks Jahn).

I do sand sculpture (see link below), photography, some writing, playlist design. It all comes from the same well, I think. If you're doing a beach party in southern California, let me know.

I'm pretty handy with photo manipulation/photoshop/illustrator. Also have experience with 3ds max and Brazil RS. Designed the artwork for my bands demo and full length CD.

Still studying photography in Belgium, working at my final project and would love to make a living out of it in the future, though kinda hard since i am not that commercial. I'd rather do my own stuff and if someone likes it I sell it to the person instead of making something that people want to buy. Photography is all I do wich concerns art and I love it all the way. So I don't know if that's what you mean by being an artist...If you wanna see what drives me and what I do check out the link in my sig.

Yep x2! Reminded me a little (don't laugh) of Gaudi qua shape.

I'm going to school to major in graphic design and minor in photography (hopefully). I was thinking about getting into advertising too but idk..

Right now I have experience in programs such as; photoshop, illustrator, 3D max, auto CAD, cinema 4D (little), dreamweaver/notepad, flash and maybe some others.

Also photography is a fun hobby of mine. Probably my current favorite thing to do ATM. It's nice to get out rather than to sit in front a a computer screen for hours.

I don't expect to make a a huge living out of Art which is why I currently play poker (fulltilt). Nothing big, mostly med. stakes cash games. I'm only 18 bt once I get a decent bankroll I will gradually move up in stakes.

But it's hard doing both because both require hours and hours of your time.

Art student right here. So far I've only played around with photography and basic drawing/painting. I'll be attending RISD this fall as a freshman, hopefully majoring in graphic design or illustration by next year. I posted a "my art" thread a while back, some of you might have seen it. And yes, I'm totally up for a Member's Lounge Art Jam!

The laminae in my sculptures come from the packing process; it basically is sedimentary done inside a removable form. I filter out the coarse material and as the sand comes out of the screen it separates, the finer grains being darker, and settling more slowly. So, each addition has a dark layer on top.

Years ago I used to get Henry Moore comparisons. Then for a while I got Brancusi, which sort of led to Isamu Noguchi. In the last few years I have apparently become more Gaudiesque. They actually come from my fascination with natural shapes: riverbeds, canyons, trees, wind.

Sand is a delightful medium. It's strong enough to hold the shapes (if I keep track of the engineering well enough) yet soft enough to be shaped with a touch. I'm fortunate in that I live about two miles from some of the world's best sculpture sand.

BFA in Motion Pictures and TV here, and I also dabble in photography and web design. I've since sold out to the man though to work in online marketing / Web 2.0

It's actually still mildly creative though and I goof around enough on the side that it doesn't bother me.

In film I was an editing major, check some of my stuff here:

I actually have more to put up but have been slacking.

For photography some of my fav galleries are here:

The wedding gallery is mostly my stuff. The ceremony itself was a pro that we hired, but other than that it's mostly me. As for Flickr I haven't updated that in ages, I really need to get my newer things online...
