BTW, I want to drive a pair of Senn HD-600s. Supposedly this headphone amp comes after the preamp switching section and uses the preamps tubes?
Anybody use one of these?

its okay, nothing special with sennheisers, pretty damned good with grados (although not the rs2 for some reason). the headphone jack is after the tube section.

for their virtues as a stereo preamp the 2L special edition is a decent product for its (widley reduced) price point, the regular 2L is a tad hazier and really needs the component upgrade to reach nonintusiveness. personally i think the old pre1 (not the pre1L) is slightly better than the standard pre2L and you get a very nice phono stage to boot. either way i've found the anthem performs best with great brittan mullards or amprex pq 7308s, sovtek 6h23 if you're on a budget. the front pair of tubes are the most critical for rolling, rolling the back pair kind of locks everything in.

best,
carlo.
