I've narrowed down my choice to:

ER-6i Etymotic £89 ($154 US)
Super.fi 3 Studio £99 ($172 US)
Shure e3c £129 ($224 US)

I'd get the Shure's if there really was a drastic improvment over the other pairs. The Super.fi pair look like they have a better lead/connection to the 'bud', the ER-6i looks a bit flimsy.

Anyway, what is recommended ?
I listen to a wide range of music.

edit : oh, these are for use with a Zen Vision M, and isolation/leakage is important as I hate those people who annoy everyone on public transport.

Are prices more expensive where you live? Because $224 USD is more than enough to get an E4.

Shure E4 would cost about £146 ($253 US).

I'm in the UK, and I'm just listing the prices that I've found.

How much can you get the CX300's for? Some prefer them to the ER-6i and S.f 3. I've been listening to them for about a week and I love them.

Regarding the CX 300, I used to own shure e2cs and I prefer the senns over the shures. I know your question was about the e3cs, though this should say something about the sound quality of the senns, especially considering the price.

Another option is the Altec Lansing IM716 which is a rebranded Etymonic phone. It's supposed to be similar to the ER-6i but anywhere from marginally to significantly better depending on who you talk to.

Electronics are way more expensive in Europe usually. The exchange rate just doesn't seem to work
