Edit: Can somebody (carefully! for a reason you'll soon see) undo their earmuffs from their K701 and tell me what compass direction (north, south, east, west) the white latch is (three black, one white)? I undid mine, and now, since mine are broken in so well, there is a curve to the pads, but I don't know what direction the bulge was made.

Maybe the tab is random, and the buldge is the only tell-tale factor. In that case, please tell me.

All references to the left side facing the inside of the K701. Otherwise, directions will be messed up.

Many thanks in advance.

There are four white latches on the inside of my earpads. The only clue in my case is the bulge, which has to be on the rear.

So when you put them on, the bulge is towards the back of your head??

Edit: Interesting that you have four white foam thingies...I myself found it odd that I have three black and one white 0_o

the smaller part of the pad goes toward the front of your face. (white notch)

larger fat parts go toward the back.

Okay, thanks everybody; yeah, I knew after breaking in the pads, they'll be altered to fit my head better. So; thin at the front, big in the back??

Thanks again everybody!

Yeah, the thickest part of the earpads is on the back of your head -- to allow for a slight angling of the drivers for creating a hinted lateral/frontal soundfield.

Okay, I'm back from my Yosemite vacation...finally saw falling snow for the first time in my life.

Anyway...I mean, when I first took them out of the box, the pads were flat, hard, and round. now, they are TOTALLY shifted to one side (a major bulge made on one side, presumably towards the back of the head).
