I just read that jazz vibraphonist, Lionel Hampton, passed away on August 31st. He was laid to rest at the same cemetary and near Miles, The Duke, Coleman Hawkins, et al.

Somewhere in heaven, there is one hell of a jam going on.

JMT, I saw that last week -- CNN had a big article about it. Very sad, but he was still active in the jazz community until the end.

I'd like to hear that jam you mentioned

I visited his Club in London years ago and I still have not gotten over that experience.I heard he appeared as a performer on over 5000 recordings and in 200 soundtracks.That's amazing.He will be missed dearly.I played some of his music when I heard he passed, and rediscovered his genius.
