Truly madness, but I just recieved my second D-777 in the mail today. I couldn't resist snatching it for US$28 dollars off Yahoo auctions. I know a couple guys here have owned two (Purk, for one, before he became on intimate terms with his 905) and then parted with at least one. Will I be kissing one good-bye someday? Possibly, but right now they look so good stacked on top of each other. I want to dive in right now for a menage a rtois. A poor man's rich man's treasure. Lovely....

Chad,
Congratulation on your purchase. I stop looking in Yahoo for a very long long time ago. I still occasionally enjoy my D-777, but lately my primary set up is one of these much older discmans (D-303, D-311, D-555, and D-515) with Meta42 (AD845) and Senn HD-600 with Clou red or Audio Technica AT-A100ti. You will get to hear those Discmans, META42, and A100ti when I'm in BKK.

As much as I love(d) my D777 and E905... since sorting out my main setup... it is purely and simply in a different league...

The E905 still helps me out with my ETYs on long and uninteresting journies... but apart from that... They're collecting dust...

By no means is that a bad write-up on the players though... My own D777 i've had since new, and loved it up until earlier in the year when I got my E905... It IS a great player... just, that I don't go portable as much anymore...

Congrats

Congrats on your second D-777. Although personally I could never purchase two units of the same model, I know it will become quite the collector's item (if it isn't already

).

Coming into Head-Fi as a newbie a while ago, I was actually looking for advice and choices to buy a replacement PCDP to replace my "old" D-777 that I've had for 6 years. I thought it was getting long in its miles and the ESP just wasn't as strong as it used to be. Little did I know what I really had in my hands, and after doing lots of searching around the forums - you guessed it - I have kept my D-777, spurned my nose to the newer generation of PCDPS and even got the Sony D-25s to accompany my D-777.

Cheers man.

The D777 is a great CD player. I tried the newer more expensive Sony's and found that I liked the D777 better especially from the line out. I now use it on the train every day.

What gives, Purk? I thought you stopped looking for D-777s.

Nanahachi, it was a steal. I couldn't believe it and I half heartedly stumbled across it as the third result of a google search. All head-fiers must have been asleep. The seller had a "Buy me now" option for $28!!! On the other hand, first one took me WEEKS to find.

Chad,
I'm still looking and searching when I'm craping out. Anyway, here's another D-777 on Ebay.

Good luck

what happened to that other one then?

It is still there... you probably need to type "Sony D-777" in Ebay.com to see for yourself. There are 2 different auctions.
