what i meant was that its our job to buy and not buy. and that we shouldn't buy things produced as bait for our hard earned money. of course some one as removed from the product as you and i cannot say whether it is commercial bait or not.

I don't listen to Daft Punk otherwise, but I absolutely love that movie. I avoided watching it for a while because I didn't expect it to be any good (sounded too gimmicky), but it just works perfectly in so many ways.

I recommend Akira one of the best anime I have ever watched.
And all anime series of studio ghibli.
For manga I love Berserk by Kentaro Miura, Pluto by Naoki Urasawa, and Beck by harold sakuishi

Have you tried watching all the various gits shows like 2nd gig and solid state society? And what about full metal panic, hellsing, and black cat?

Why make a fuss about long-running shows? There aren't that many, after all.

    My top anime:
    Fruits Basket
    Boogiepop Phantom
    Azumanga Daioh
    Gundam Seed

    Also worth a mention:
    Martian Successor Nadesico
    Haibane Renmei
    Last Exile

GitS kind of annoyed me after a while, to be honest. It was very like an old-style Japanese TV cop show in plot, and the characters were mostly fairly flat. That said, I appreciate them making an anime about grown-ups, which is still pretty rare. Planetes is another adult show in that sense.

I really like Satoshi Kon. I recently saw Paprika which was excellent.

Big anime fan here. Lots of good stuff coming every year. Anime is so colorfull and full of imagination that you just do not see from western movies or series. For some this imagination is too much and just can not enjoy anime, it realy is a pitty.

    Anyway some of my favorites.

    Neon genesis evangelion
    GITS-SAC 1&2
    Cowboy Bebop
    Samurai Champloo
    Rurouni Kenshin(OVA+TV serie)
    Hajime no Ippo
    Initial D
Gantz (refreshing that anime makers sometimes forget morale)

    Porco Rosso
    the Cockpit
    Princess Mononoke
Ghost in the Shell (was the first anime dvd i bought)
Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind

    Some recent excellent movies:
    Your Name
    A Silent Voice
In This Corner of the World
  10. Spareribs
I don’t know anime but I do love Kermit and Miss Piggy
