Project86 and others have plenty of impressions of it in the main review thread. Keep in mind there are no rca inputs on the D1, so it's amp can only be used with the Anedio dac itself...
Got your PM. For myself I would rate the built-in amp's performance as exceptional. Detail resolution is excellent, and the mid-range is very well balanced if not just a hair on the sweet side. Its overall sound can be characterized as smooth and leaning towards neutrality.
It does well with acoustic instruments, electric guitars, vocals, and classical. Its one downside, and this has more to do with my HD600 rather than anything else, is it tends to choke a bit on highly demanding passages in classical music. What we're talking about here is maybe 3 min out of an *average* symphony.
