one thing i've never understood is the "ear plug" thing, where the earlobe is tunneled out and a plug, sometimes an inch across, is put in.

i worked with someone who had ear plugs, and sometimes he's come to work without the plugs. his earlobes looked like dessicated, wrinkled loops of flesh.

you're not going to be 22 your whole life. what the hell is he going to do when he's 40, plugs are out of style, and he needs a job? surgury?
