I'm looking for feedback on people's too choices for analytical headphones with up most detail and clarity.

So far, my watched items for such are the beyerdynamic DT 1990, Audio-Technica AD-2000x, HD800/s and the Ether Flow open or closed.

Currently own (for those on mobile) the HE400i, K712 Pro, X2 and TH-00 PH.
Thanks! (also like to add that the LCD-4 is my current endgame plan)

I don't think it gets much better than the Stax SR-009 for people who are looking for the most detail and clarity. In my opinion they are more detailed and transparent than the LCD4, Utopia, and HD800. Also, they are cheaper than the LCD4 and Utopia if you get them used (low to mid $2000s). Despite what people say, you don't need an uber expensive amp for them. I'm driving mine with a $350 SRM-323s and they sound great.

I completely agree with the previous reply. I even feel the SR-L700 and the SR-L500 to me feel better and have a more natural sound than the LCD line. I currently have DT990 600 on and if I could order any right now I would go with some SR-L700 or SR-009 for sure. Theres nothing like those I will be getting some SR-L700's soon. At KJ West One in London I listened back to back to the LCD4 then the SR-L500 and then the SR-L700 all from the same source same album etc.

but for those of us that have invested in their non-electrostatic chains, what to buy next .... that is the question. On my short list is this:

Focal Elear or Elex
Mr Speakers Aeon Open
ZMF Eikon or Auteur
Sennheiser HD800 or 800s

I haven't heard the Aeon and I didn't demo the ZMF headphone for long so I won't comment on the two.

Between the HD800/S, Elear and Ether Flow (to replace the Aeon), I think the HD800/S is more analytical sounding one. Though just because it is, doesn't mean you'll enjoy them more.

HD800/HD800S/K812/SR009/Utopia in no particular order.

well thx guys for your opinions. I'm gonna try an nab a used 800 if I can in the meantime - I only heard it once and for about 2 minutes at that, hooked up to vinyl rig. Boy did I like it - but since then too many other sets have come out and are tempting.

Lurking of "for sale" threads in search of a used 800 begins now.....

I'm not a fan of crazy sound stage width however. Especially if that comes at the expense of imaging precision.
