An irritating problem with my headphones.

I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD485s, and when I use them, they sound extremely unbalanced -- the right side is louder, deeper and better, while the left side is much much quieter and softer. It really irritates me, and even when I add crossfeed to my music player and adjust the balance on my TV/stereo/computer, it's never quite right.

Has anyone had anything like this? Any suggestions as for what I can do? It drives me insane. It's not my hearing, I've got a few other pairs of headphones and they don't have a problem, and it happens on my computer (my soundcard and my onboard sound), both TVs, stereo, etc. I can't return them, either, and I really can't afford a new pair -- I spent my last dollar on these.

You say you can't return them... why not? That's the best course of action. Failing that, you can always contact Syntec on 1800 648 628 (Australia) and speak to them about what you can do.

One thing you can check is whether the cable is fully plugged into the left cup. A pull to the cord may have pulled it slightly out of the jack. If that doesn't work i would send it back.

Australasian consumer protection law is stronger than that. If the product is faulty then you're legally entitled to a repair or a refund irrespective of what disclaimers they put on their website.

From the OP...

He states he has tried it on, "my computer (my soundcard and my onboard sound), both TVs, stereo, etc.". Seems fairly conclusive to me.
