An idea for the AKG 701 sore spot on the top of the head!

I use an AKG701 all day every day, so I eventually had the dreaded bump on the top of the head sore spot. I tried massaging the headband to soften up the bumps, tried taping a soft cloth, and even small bore bubble wrap to make it less uncomfortable. But, the final idea I had happened when the phone rang, and I had to quickly get the phone to my ears to answer it. I rotated the headband to the back of my neck and slid the drivers down to my shoulders while I talked on the phone. Afterward, I just pushed the drivers up over my ears, leaving the headphone headband on the back of my neck, resting on my shirt collar. They are very comfortable this way, they dont slip down at all and they sound the same as always. I guess I could even take the pads off, and rotate them 90 degrees, so that they sit as they were designed to (they are thinner in the front than the back, so when you rotate the headphones this way, they dont fit the same way.

Second, this is a cooler (temperature) way to wear the cans, as the headband doesnt trap heat in the top of your head. Whether it is cooler way to wear your 701's probably would be more up to the people who see you wearing these great headphones in this unusual way. But since I work by myself, who cares?

Third, that annoying spot on the top of your head will thank you for the rest.

Fourth, this method avoids that AKG 701 CanHead effect on your hair!

Does anyone know why this shouldn't work long term? I can't find anything wrong with the idea, and wanted to share it with those that hate that painful point of contact on the top of their head.

Maybe its the size and shape of my head that allows this to work well, and no I dont have a head shaped like a cube... But it may not work for everyone.

Tell me if it works for you or not.

You could also put the headband in the front, but that might cause some issues with your working...

I tried that, but my video glasses have not come in yet so I cant see what I am doing. Other than that, great idea! LOL

When I tried to wear them with the headband on the back they keep falling down.

Probably you have a big head/ears

Anyway, I've tried to rotate the pads so the thicker part is on the top.
This solve the sore spot problem but rise a new one --
My ears get past the pads and touch the headphones.
Guess my ears are big too

That's the way I've always used to listen on these headphones. The pads are perfectly circular, so you don't have the same challenges you might with on-the-head phones.

My problem is more along the lines of temperature. While I vastly prefer my K701 for music, I switch off to my KSC75 when I'm listening to movies or doing editing.
