An amp giving more detail or a better cable?

Please help me!

I just managed to get my Terratec soundcard working, and connected to my Harmony Design headamp I get absolutely wonderful dynamics... but I miss the smallest details, the very small details that I suppose only can be heard when using the line-out directly...

I'm connecting my amp to my souncard using a ridicolously cheap RCA -> mini cable (about 8 or 9 dollars for 1,8 metres), and I guess that this a BIG problem... I wonder if I should buy a better cable, something like a clou-cable costing approx. 100-150 dollars / 1,5 m or if I should buy another amp. If so, what is the most detailed amp I can get for 700-800 dollars or less?

I don't know if anyone makes silver cables like you want but I've noticed increased detail with every thing I've used silver with. Perhaps someone could make you a cable using good silver cable fairly cheap?

HanssoN: I'm glad, you got it working. What trick did it need? For the cable, I'd think a comparatively cheap Monster Interlink 200 or Oehlbach Ice Blue could already give better results.

Anyway, it would be also interesting to know, what you think about the internal headphone amp in comparision to your standalone headphone amp...

I'd get a mini-RCA cable because that's a relativly cheaper upgrade up in the chain. Next you can get a equinox or cardas for the HD600.

Thanks a lot for all advice! I'll try a cable-upgrade, but maybe a silver cable would be a bit to expensive? I need 1,5 m / 5 ft, so maybe a silver-plated cable like the clous would do fine?
(I don't want to pay more than 150 dollars or so)

To fix the Aureon I simply had to install the latest beta-drivers and lock the master clock frequency, the soundcard works very well now... I'll be back with a comparison between my ordinary amplifier and the Terratec one.

Thanks again!

EDIT:
The Terratec built-in headamp doesn't go as deep as my standalone amp, and the bass isn't as well controlled. It doesn't feel as fast or speedy either, but it still sounds perfectly OK.

...so what is it that keeps you from using the line out to drive your HD 600? That's a worthwhile option, as long as it's able to supply enough current, and no further amplification can offer you better accuracy. Or isn't there enough power?

In this case: how about the Corda HA-1 MkII? You won't find many comments on it, but it might be what you're looking for. I have the HA-2 and am very happy with it, especially about the reproduction of the fine details.
