I know that Tomahawk would be the obvious choice but I just cant spend 300$
for it even though it well worths the every penny. So what are the options around 200$ ??? I was looking at Headphonia amp but I do not know how it performs with ?EMs. Any ideas from people with an ipod and E500s ??? Thanks...

Well you are in luck, there are some very fine portable amps under $200. For example:

1. Go-Vibe 5 at $95
2. Porta Corda MkIII at $160
3. Supermicro IV at $182
4. Supermini IV at $199

My 1st choice would be the Supermicro IV with the Porta Corda MkIII as a 2nd choice.

Miguel, isn't the Supermini (with the latest upgrades) on par with the Supermicro?

Have not been able to compare the two of them with the post 4/11 mods. Vorlon1 sent his Supermini IV to get it modded by Dr. Xin and when it arrives I will be comparing them.

I have read that with the post 4/11 they sound the same. However I am anal and I have to see for myself.

The Portaphile V2^2 Maxxed with Black Gates and LT1210 has a fantastic sound. Make sure you let them burn in for at least 400 hours. However my problem with it is that in maxxed mode (gain in low) you only get 2.5 hours of play time. That is way to short, wish he could improve on it.
