first off, great forum!

I am looking to amplify the headphone jack of my computer soundcard (audigy)

It is currently driving a Grado 325, and sounds awefully underpowered. The funny thing is, on my work computer, it is fine although using a lower end soundcard (sblive)

Would adding an RA-1 be well suited for me?

On the rear of the RA-1, there are left and right composite connects, what type of cable would you recommend to go from headphone out to the composite connectors?

Any suggestions on where to purchase?

I will eventually move all my listening to a PCDP, but for now, I really want to get some more juice out of the headphone jack.

Thanks in advance for your help!

With a PCDP or sound card, you would want to buy a headphone amp to get the most out of your Grado 325.

My recommendation is to use build or buy a DIY amp such as the META 42 amp. You can try to contact or PM certain members in this forum about building or buying a custom amp.

If you look up RA-1 in this forum or at head-wize, people have a lot of controversial opinions about it.

yes, i've been doing a bit of research on the RA-1 on this and headwize's forum.

One reason why I like the RA-1 is because I got to audition it at my local store. The sound was quite impressive.

I'm want to build my own, but it looks like the opamp is notoriously hard to find. And no one has tried anything else (other opamps were suggested, but no one has built one to my knowledge)

Thanks!

how the heck I missed that I will never know..

I just ordered some, and it looks like I might be able to build my amp this weekend.
