I have basically completed my pc board designing for this circuit, which is basically a Meta42, done my way. Anyway, just a few questions...

1. Should I use an output resistor for use with these cans?

2. What is a good gain to use with OPA627BP's for 580's?

The amp will run off of a 24VDC wallwart.

Thanks

1. I wouldn't think so. I've never had problems running HD580s directly from an IC.

2. I prefer low gains, especially for line-level sources. 1.5-3 for me, but whatever floats your boat. This is overall gain, you want to set the inner loop gain rather high, 100ish.

+/-12VDC should work fine. What type of buffers are you planning to use? PS caps? ect.

Using BUF634 stacked four high on output in high bandwidth mode (180MHz) and a single BUF634 in normal bandwidth in the PS. PS caps are 4700uF, 470uF and 6.8uF.

Another question: are IRC resistors any good? They are .1% tolerance. Would these be significantly better than the Xicon 1%'s I was going to use? Are they as good as Vishay/Dale? Are Meggitt/Holsworthy better?

I currently have an overall gain of about 9.8, so 10.

I have a question about caps as well... are Nichicon held to be really good? Better than Xicon?

On transformers, which is better: Cincon or HIQ?

? on pots too... is http://www.mouser.com//index.cfm?han...oductid=315034 this a good pot to use? Or should I find something better? I am under the impression that 50k is about the best value to use. Am I correct? Which other pots should I take a look at? Keeping the cost under $20, preferably around $10, but can go 20.
