i just read an interesting article on tangent's site, "Is Amplifying Low-End Sources Worthwhile?"

i am sure some of you have done a test comparison already...so the question is for a sound card equivalent to the m-audio rev 7...which amp would suit best (or around what value if no specifics)? without over powering and revealing the nasty details.

thanks.

sorry, just posting what i obtained from the article...

"...especially if that source is a low-end source like a PC sound card, or a portable CD player or MP3 player."

i know there is a heated debate regarding to the quality of pc sound cards. i have come to a conclusion that i will never shell out that much money on a quality cd player, because it simply seems inconvenient compared the pc jukebox (being a college student who spends most of the time infront of the computer).

anyways, with that said...any one got some good suggestions?

The revo is kinda bad compared to the ~$100 cd player in my sig. Admittedly, ~$100 is a fairly good price for my cd player, but these kinds of deals are out there to be had.

Seeing that a better source really isn't all that far away, I'd recommend you go and pick out a nice amp. It'll last you a few upgrades.

I find my Grace 901 to be quite suitable for my modded RME digi96/8 PAD.
