[threadjack] Instead of an M-Audio you should get the Chaintech AV-710 (roughly equivilent to M-Audio Revolution 7.1) or the EMU 0404/1212m (better than any soundcard M-Audio makes). M-Audio's tend to be a bit on the bright side anyways which would make them a poor match for the already very bright SR-325's. [/threadjack]

the new gilmore lite seems like a good option. wouldn't take up much room near the computer either, and there are plenty of upgrades for it if you want more performance in the future.

You don't need to buy anything with the Gilmore Lite, though you can buy an upgraded power supply for $175 (intorductory price). You do need interconnects to connect your source to the amp. RadioShack cables will do just fine, though you could always buy better ones.

alright, I was also wondering about what would happen if I ran the headphones un amped for a while (pretty much until the amp I choose ships) what is the worse that could happen if I were to attempt this?
