I've been debating getting a decent set of Paradigm Atoms or something of that sort to replace my current computer speakers.  Now I know I can use a standard receiever/amp but that's simply not going to work given the space I have (and the fact that it's a disgusting eye sore).
 
What other solutions are there?  Is there some sort of a low profile power amp?   Something with a headphone out would be ideal.

Look at the NuForce Icon (or Icon2). It's a tiny integrated amp with headphone out.

You should also consider a pair of powered monitors, like the Audioengine A5's.
