Now that I've upgraded my headphones, I need to get a dedicated amp for them instead of what's in my signature. I was trying to build a MSSH but gave up on that, and I'm mainly looking at tube amps because I figure the warmth tubes are known for would synergize well with the Pro 900 in addition to their visual appeal. I was looking at the Little Dot I+, MKII and MKIII mainly, and the MKIII is already breaking the original budget I had. So, I'm wondering if head-fi has any suggestions for a $200 or lower amp to match my 'phones. Thanks in advance.

The Head-Direct EF-1 Hybrid is on sale at Head-direct for 299.00. Get the tech advances of ss while still adding the warmth of the tubes and have the tube rolling option availlable. The 900's may be a bit too low impedence for a straight tube amp. When I match it up with the 900's I have coming I'll let you know

The EF-1 is also a good choice with a lot of great reviews. The I+ is also a hybrid, while the LD MKIII, IV are straight tube..

Thanks,
I'm aware of little Dot. When I saw I+ I just didn't connect the "Dots" so to speak.

Those DAMN Romans !!!

Yeah, I know what you mean. The next Little Dot is the MKIVIIVVXX...

I recently ordered the Head-Direct EF-1 because of it's 299.99 sale price and at the time I was looking at the Little Dots but I do most of my On-Line pruchasing at work and the Firewall here won't let me go to eBay and that's about the only place to find them.
I'll keep looking because upgraditis is incurable.

Slightly off topic, but where are people getting their Ultrasone Pro 900? I'm upgrading from the Proline 550, and its either HD650 of the pro 900.

I'm having a bitch of a time trying to find a seller.

I love my Little Dot I+ with my DT-770/80's. I have the Sylvania Gold 408A tubes and they are great.

Is the I+ really that good that you are all recommending it over getting the more expensive LD amps?

I'm certainly interested to see what you think of the EF-1... my wallet really hates when I constantly look at (and often buy...) things over budget.
