They're not that easy to drive but 5w is overkill many times over. You only need around 1w per channel just to be sure it stays clean and has punch and dynamics (or rather, that it won't lose them) even if you crank it up.

With that kind of money I'd get the Schiit Asgard or the Aune X7S (but this one will need a balanced cable to kick out that much power, so might as well use the Asgard). Get the Fiio dock so you can have the X5II upright on the desk, plus any decent 3.5mm to RCA cable.

Hi!
I never heard the HE400i on the ifi iCan SE but the HE-560 and man - I really liked that combination. It's absolutely powerful enough. I would say that is a very good choice in this price range.

As for Schiit Asgard2 - that is also a good option. I had the Asgard 1 back in the day when it was Schiit's only product. Haha. I loved it but eventually sold it as the iDSD micro did all equal or better. Schiit Asgard also looks very nice on a desktop.

Definitively the Asgard 2 (you can only get the Asgard 1 used) - it's much improved version of the 1. The ifi is really an amazing amp and while it's portable it doesn't have a battery - so you still need a wall socket. But of course way more "transportable" than the Asgard.
