Hi,

I got a DT880 and HD600 for classical music only. And I am considering an AMP for about $800 (500 to 1000,cheaper will be appreciated).

Looking through several amp:

Little Dot VI (balanced output is attractive)

SPL auditor (a little expensive)

beyer A1 (heard it is a great match for 880)

La Figaro 339

And there is also a great deal of DNA Sonett on sale

I have been using these headphones only for classical music. Also considering about a balanced HD600 if it's worth the cost.

Appreciate your advice and help. other brand amp is also ok to recommend

Thanks

Out of your curiosity, what is your source?

Also, are you sure you need to spend quite THAT much money for those particular headphones?  You may be able to drive them perfectly well by going with a slightly cheaper amp and putting the extra cash towards upgrading your source, etc.

I'm personally very happy with how the Schiit Asgard plays with my DT880s.  Great synergy there.

That said, I have the 250 ohm version and I'm not sure how well they'd drive 600 ohm phones if that's what you have.

it works great. well i am kindof curious how great 880 and 600 can be with a better amp

Cool.

I originally had my 880s paired with the Audinst HUD-mx1.  It was a nice match, but upgrading to th Asgard really pushed the 880s to another level.  I can't imagine getting significant gains beyond this.  I'm sure a very nice and expensive amp would yield subtle improvements, but nothing that I would consider spending $500-$800 for.

If I ever decide to spring for $1000 headphones, then I'll think about upgrading my amp, but I'm very happy with my setup for the time being.
