Recently bought these to go with my X-fi card and was very impressed with
the results.

But I am wondering if buying an amp would make a huge difference in sound
quality over the x-fi.

If so - what would be the best amp to go for

If you are using computer as a source you may want to check out the new Headroom Total Bithead. It's been getting some good feedback around here and looks like a lot of bang for buck IMO.

Wouldn't the DAC in the bithead replace the x-fi? That would suck for gaming...

An amp supposedly helps greatly on the DT770s. What is your price range?
