Hey,

I was wondering if anyone got any thoughts on what amp I should buy for Beyerdynamic DT531?

Is Rega Ear the way to go?

Please consider that the price for the suggested amps should be around the same price as Rega Ear (150 euros).

Personally, I'd say tubes are the way to go with the DT531, although that may be just my own individual preference. I also don't know of any tube amps in your price range...

speedis: I guess, you'd best ask Paul (the Birkett one from the Great of Britain

- i.e. pbirkett), 'cause he's tried quite a few amps with the DT531, including the Rega. In general, the DT531 isn't really power-hungry, neither does it react very critical to output impedance - so it works nicely with quite a wide range of amps. Still, low output impedance - and also a bit of voltage swing, if you like it loud

- seem recommendable for optimal results. So, sonically something like a Go-Vibe would probably already do the job - I'm just not sure, whether it provides enough voltage swing for a good blast. With the PortaCorda (I & II) on battery power, voltage swing already seemed a little on the low side for the DT531...
