ALSO LOOKING FOR PC SOUNDCARD:

------

Hello all,
looking to rebuild my system. i have nothing right now, but i used to have:

Emu 1212m (source) -> Gilmore V2SE / Woo Audio 3 (amp/preamp setup)
and i liked that system quite a bit.
unfortunately i don't remember which was amp and which was preamp, but i remember trying both setups

EDIT: as a point of reference, i remember being really impressed with the Hornet. that was for Portable, but hopefully still gives a better idea of what kind of amp i like.

i really have no particular preferences with *type* of amp, i just want something that can pack some punch at a decent (read: ENTRY LEVEL) pricerange. let's say, sub-300$USD i am looking for warmth over neutrality and probably musicality over accuracy

detail and accuracy is important to me as long as it makes the music sound better instead of just making me point out the flaws of the recording

i mostly listen to eletronic (Infected Mushroom, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin) metal/prog (Tool, Dream Theater, Opeth) but also dabble in soft rock, oldies and the like.

any ideas? I know the Gilmore Lite was supposed to be a really great deal but that was a couple years ago.

RECAP:
- under 300$ USD
- detail is good, as long as it doesn't make me hate the recording
- good for Techno, Prog/Metal, but can also do vocals and acoustic?

thanks!
