Hey all,

I just picked up a pair of AD700s. Does anyone know if an amp would improve these phones? I think they're great right now. Budget is $200.

Hi there.

You might want to do a search on related AT gear. Seems the general consensus is that they're easy to drive and so may not need to be amped. I love my a900 amped. I use a portaphile and a xin supermini 3(not at the same time

) If you like bass..fire up the xin with the bass booster. BTW both those amps fit in your budget....depends on the sound you want.

yeah they seem real easy to drive so I didn't know if I would hear any benefit from an amp. guess I'll be happy for now.

Oh..you would hear an improvement..sorry, I didn't mention that before. I know you know this, but amps bring alot more to the table than volume...I know thats an obvoius commnet, that I'm sure you're aware of.

But you're right, you don't have to rush....wait a while, enjoy the cans...and when you feel the upgrade bug...then get an amp...you'll be very happy with the results IMHO
