So I just bought the 6XX from Massdrop, even though it will take some time until I'll get it, I started to find the perfect AMP/DAC for me

So my budget is about 200$

And people recommended me to buy the Magni 3 and Modi 2

will they work with Android too? if not there is some sort of cable that will fit into these dac/amp?

I have Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Does it support FLAC/WAV files?

And do I need any specific musicplayer to listen to hifi music?

and it will be exactly as I would have run it in my computer? in terms of quality

thanks in advance.

Haven’t heard the Magni 3 yet but have heard the 650’s on a Schiit stack and it does fairly well for your price range. The 650’s (6xx’s same thing) can scale very well meaning they can get better with better equipment. Don’t have Android but it should work as all you need is a USB cable like what is used for a printer and a OTG cable that plugs into the phone. My iPhone and iPad both work with my Yggy so I’m sure it will work with the Modi.

Yes the galaxy can play FLAC, but you'll need to buy new cables to hook it up to the Modi. I've never tried it that way though

Modi2 has compatibility issues with Android/iOS since it needs USB power that is not even fully guaranteed on an older Windows/OSX machine if all USB ports have something on them.

You need to get the Modi2 Uber version since it comes with a power brick.

Does it support FLAC/WAV files?

That depends on your smartphone and music player app, but Android supports those out of the box.

And do I need any specific musicplayer to listen to hifi music?

Only if you have software issues but Samsung Galaxy S3/Note3 and newer don't as far as I know.

Noise from cellular network can sometimes interfere so just set it to Airplane Mode. If you hear no difference, no problem, but I don't like alerts coming in either as my Note3 goes into error mode unlike the smoother S series implementation for this use case. If you encounter that just pull the cable and reconnect after setting it to Airplane Mode.

I have a question so at the moment I am willing to buy the Magni 3 and Modi 2 for 200$ but then I saw on Massdrop this two version in approximately same price after a massdrop discount:

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/ai-101da-integrated-amplifier-with-usb-dac

and this:

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/aune-x1s-32bit-384-dsd128-mini-dac

(^ which is currently not available but I guess it will be opened again soon, i'm not in hurry since my 6XX will be shipped only more 4 months )

So between these 3 DAC/AMPS, which one is the better?

and another question, this one:

Audio-GD - NFB 11.28

what do you think?

I'm having some setbacks and so I'll have to buy Magni 3, but if it were up to me I would buy the R2R 11 which is the twin brother of NFB 11.28 which is also an excellent choice but with some differences.

which differences? and what you meant when you said: "i'm having some setbacks so i'll have to buy magni 3"?

and it's not in sale at Massdrop am I right? how much it cost? and is it better than the magni 3 + modi 2?

I live in Brazil, and since everything here is extremely expensive I asked a person to bring the HD 6XX from the USA to me to be able to save with freight and taxes, this person will arrive here in March or April, but unfortunately I will not be able to add money to buy the R2R 11 up there since I have other priorities, but I can buy the Magni 3 that costs only 100 dollars, as the differences of NFB 11.28 and R2R 11, so I read NFB 11.28 is more neutral and offers more details , since R2R 11 is warmer and offers more musicality, I suggest you read the comments on the link below and ask questions for people who have tried both, because I have never had that opportunity myself. :smile_phones:

iFi nano iDSD Black Label... works perf from android with otg, easy to carry around, drives my 600s beautifully. I use an s8 and note 8 and both are absolutely fine otg to the nano bl. I also use them to drive my modi 2 uber via otg (again no issues).

How is it compared to the R2R 11 and NFB-11.28?

I mean if the difference in the smooth sound and quality experience is really big, I might give up on listening to music via my phone with the headphones and buy one of these.

Never heard either of those two but have a look at @glassmonkey 's review (including a lot of comparisons) here https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/ifi-audio-nano-idsd-black-label.22770/reviews#review-19505 mine afterwards if youre interested too. Its a cracking device, im properly impressed... it stands up well to my schiit stack.
