Sigur Ros fans might know this Icelandic quartet. I saw them open of Sigur Ros on the NYC leg of the Takk tour. I thought they were better than Sigur Ros.
They are coming back to NYC for you fans. I will be at the show at Lincoln Center on 4/02 and I *might* have an extra ticket. Here is a youtube link to an Icelandic TV appearance.
And their Tour dates:
Apologies if you've received this before. What it should have said was...
The London-Reykjavik Recorder
or
Sigur Ros has something to tell you….
(No.1 in an occasional series)
Our friends and cohorts Amiina’s debut album, ‘Kurr’, will be available through their website from March 21st. It can be preordered now here along with a new range of related merchandise and will also be available on the tour. Amiina are currently negotiating record deals to release the new album through traditional routes, but meantime, this is best and only the way to acquire this quiet gem of a debut. In addition, the existing EPs are now available as a download here.
Amiina are also going on their first ever solo tour of America in March and you should do yourselves a big favour and go and see what they get up to when we’re not around to cramp their style. Details of how to buy tickets can be found here. These are the dates:
march 21 Madison (Café Montmartre ) tickets
march 22 Minneapolis (The Varsity Theatre) tickets
march 23 Chicago (Lakeshore Theater) tickets
march 25 Cleveland (Cambridge Room, House of Blues) tickets
march 26 Detroit (Magic Bag) tickets
march 27 Toronto (The Music Gallery ) tickets
march 28 Montreal (Le National) tickets
march 30 Philly (World Café Live) tickets
march 31 Boston (The Remis at Museum of Fine Arts) tickets
april 1 DC (9:30 Club) tickets
april 2 NYC (The Wordless Music Series) tickets
april 6 Cincinnati (Cincinnati Now Festival) tickets
april 9 Seattle (Triple Door) tickets
april 10 Portland (Doug Fir Lounge) tickets
april 12 San Francisco (Swedish American Hall) tickets
april 13 Los Angeles (Silent Movie Theatre) tickets
april 14 San Diego (House of Blues-5th Avenue Stage) tickets
The girls will be supported by Tom Brosseau on a lot of the East Coast dates (and he, by the way, is amazing). In Cincinnati they are performing both in their own right and as part of Sufjan Stevens band for his performance at Now Festival, which should be mother-of-god amazing!
That’s all. Over & out.
