Anyone who ever owned an Amiga computer probably knows about the so called demoscene. Its been a while for me personally when I first got to know it back in 1989/90. The most impressing part about the demo scene to me was the music, the so called modules done with tracker software. A couple years ago when exploring the net I had the great pleasure to discover that a lot of the history and music has been preserved. And boy, the nostalgia cant be beaten! Many tunes I know by heart and they keep getting regular play. Let me name a few legendary composers to clear off the dust: Jester, Nuke, Marillion, Romeo Knight, Nightlight, Jogeir, Heatbeat, Jesper Kyd, Fleshbrain, 4-Mat, Uncle Tom, Tip-Mantronix, Moby, Bit Arts. Gets your heart pounding?

Anyone else keen on this piece of computer history I invite you to add your feelings on favourite composers and modules/demos/demogroups and whatever fits in.

Oh yea, some of them cracktros are really cool. What they can put into a tiny file is sometimes incredible. Remember any names?

Ah yes, I heard their names many times but they came just after the time I was a happy user so dont have much with em. Future Crew doesnt ring a bell. Dual Crew does

Hey, let's revive this 'ol fellah!

The Demoscene is still live today, Amiga prods admittedly aren't as plentiful now as they used to be, but they are still bloody good. The PC scene is absolutely massive atm and turning out some excellent stuff.

Now for links:

Amiga:

BitWorld - Amiga
A.D.A. Amiga Demoscene Archive
The Mod Archive v4.0a - A distinctive collection of modules

PC:
pouet.net :: your online demoscene resource
scene.org - news

Moriez: I think you'll find a few are still going today.

I don't follow the scene much, it's usually not my cup of tea.
There is, however, one artist I really like, Mortimer Twang.

+1 for Mortimer Twang.

Admittedly It depends more on what you like. I love Sumo Lounge, but he's a hard fellah to track down.

I used to love this stuff and I'd forgotten all about it. I’m going to get the Amiga out of the loft. Thanks for the memory!

I used to own one in high school. Ah, the memories. Still my favorite computer of all time!
